The Lord Is My Shepherd - September 26, 2017

Image
I am not a poet, but I wrote this poem about a month ago to share my feelings and my dedicating my life to God the Father, His Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost. The Lord is my Anchor. He is my Friend. He is my Teacher. He is my Leader. He is my King. He is my Redeemer. Without Him, my soul cannot be saved. It is His atonement that can save us all.

Sunflowers & Sunshine - October 14, 2017

Image
On October 14, 2017, I successfully completed and sold my first watercolor painting to one of my sisters for $37 (going by my hourly rate), which she paid $60 in return. At her request, I did this painting as a reminder for her of our home and life in Mexico. In this painting, there are six sunflowers that represent me and my family. What the story is within in the painting, we as a family & individuals have gone through a lot of trials, including the ones that we felt were the hardest for us, but through the support of each family member and those outside the family, we have been able to overcome our trials and grow from our experiences.  Behind the sunflowers is the sun rising, which represents hope and renewal. Whenever things go wrong or things go the way we don't want them to, there is always another tomorrow, a hope for the future. The yellow grass and the dirt road the flowers stand in symbolize the trials and afflictions we have endured. The shadows of the su

Beauty & the Beast: A Fairytale Retold ~ A Sneak Peek

After walking through the dense coats of snow on the ground, Felicity spotted a strange pillar pointing to the pomegranate-colored sky. “How strange! Is that a castle or something?” She thought as she took giant steps across the snow. Her legs burned from the heavy thickness of snow, but it brought warmth to her body. Soon, her legs felt lighter when there was less snow before noticing a bridge across a river surrounding the tall building. However, she still walked slowly, hesitant to seek an opportunity to help her family. Was sacrificing something precious the right thing to do? She stopped and almost turned around, but her family’s life was more valuable than her own. Crackle… Crackle… Crackle… Each snowflake was crushed all the way to the door. Felicity let out her freezing clenched hand to knock hard on the door until a voice broke through the cold silence, “What are you doing here on my property?” She gasped. The shadow she saw didn’t have the bottom of h

I Was There - Woman Crying at 9/11 Memorial with Angel (9/11 Tribute)

Image
Although a few days past the 16th anniversary, this is a sketch that I started and completed in honor of the 9/11 victims and their families. In this picture as you can see, a woman is crying at the memorial with an angel by her side, resting his hand on her shoulder because he, as a messenger and servant of God, shares her pain. As I had been remembering the event since the 16th anniversary passed, I had a thought to myself, "There is no doubt that a lot of people had this question in their minds, 'Where was God when this happened?'" Then the next thought that occurred was, "I was there." I drew this sketch not only as a tribute, but as a message that God is always there, and so are His angels.
